Today we went up to the Peacock Christmas Tree Farm off of Summit Road in the Santa Cruz mountains. This is the place that my family used to cut Christmas Trees when I was a kid, so it is real special to be able to share this with Christine and Andrew. We had a great time running through the trees and finding the perfect tree to cut down. Andrew had fun helping Daddy with the sawing. Then we enjoyed some hot apple cider, tied the tree to the roof, and headed home.

After getting it on the stand and situated in the room we had a great time trimming the tree with lights and ornaments. Christine and I thought it was neat to see how excited Andrew was with the whole process. His face lit up and he kept saying “Christmas! Christmas!” over and over.

Father’s Day at the historic Hayes Mansion

// June 21st, 2009 // No Comments » // General

This morning Christine and Andrew took me to brunch at the historic Hayes Mansion. We sat outside right next to the three-piece Dixieland band that was playing awesome music. I got a chance to talk to them a bit during a break and mentioned that my dad was a trombonist that had played in some bands in the area way back when. The pianist said he had heard of Larry Hutchinson. It was nice to have that connection on Father’s Day.

Andrew was especially loving the music. He was dancing up a storm. I was spending most of my brunch relaxing and not chasing him around with the camera, but I did manage to catch a little bit of him dancing along to The Entertainer.
