Andrew and I had a great day while mom was at the spa. We went to the Little Gym for class, then got a haircut, then went to Vasona to ride the carousel and train. Didn’t know you could just ask to ride in the engine with the engineer. That was awesome. Andrew even got to pull the handle to blow the horn.
Here’s a quick little video of Andrew and I having fun pretending to go hunting. Right in the middle he decides to have a little musical interlude and wants to pretend to play guitar instead. This leads to an obvious Ted Nugent reference, then it is back to hunting again.
I am really enjoying the fact that he is at an age now where we can have fun together playing like this.
This morning Christine and Andrew took me to brunch at the historic Hayes Mansion. We sat outside right next to the three-piece Dixieland band that was playing awesome music. I got a chance to talk to them a bit during a break and mentioned that my dad was a trombonist that had played in some bands in the area way back when. The pianist said he had heard of Larry Hutchinson. It was nice to have that connection on Father’s Day.
Andrew was especially loving the music. He was dancing up a storm. I was spending most of my brunch relaxing and not chasing him around with the camera, but I did manage to catch a little bit of him dancing along to The Entertainer.
On Saturday Fred and I woke up before dawn to head up to Los Vaqueros Reservoir near Livermore to do a little fishing. The fishing wasn’t kind to us and we didn’t catch anything, but you know what they say, a bad day fishing is better than a good day working!
As a consolation, here’s some panoramic pictures of the lake that I stitched together from pictures I snapped with my iPhone.
