Elliot Masie’s Learning 2008

Last week I attended Elliot Masie’s Learning 2008 in Orlando, FL. I had a great time interacting with 1805 other learning professionals and really learned a lot in the process. Probably the highlight was the Q&A session I sat in on with Kevin Kelley of Wired Magazine fame. He is a true futurist and has done a lot of thinking about how the semantic web will impact learning.
Another great session was given by a couple of Masie Fellows on performance support. I entered not knowing much about PS, especially being that my involvement in our organziation is mostly from the technical infrastructure side. I left the session with a new passion for looking at how training can be delivered differently based on the moment of need.
There was also the great team dinner at Charley’s Steakhouse, one of the top steak houses in the nation. I of course ordered a bone-in ribeye and it was phenominal. The 6 week aging, daily cutting, and 30 hour seasoning created a tender steak that despite being rare, had no blood running out and yet remaind juicy and tender.
